Jordan Cohen To All Instructors

Jordan Cohen is a professional drummer, performer, recording artist, and educator with more than three decades of experience spanning rock, jazz/fusion and many genres of contemporary music. He began playing drums at age 10 in Albany, New York, performing in local bands by 12 and appearing at venues including the legendary CBGB in New York City. His early passion for music earned him admission to Berklee College of Music, where he received the prestigious Buddy Rich Scholarship and immersed himself in jazz and performance studies. Influenced by masters such as Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, and Jack DeJohnette, Jordan developed a lifelong appreciation for improvisation, composition, and musical collaboration.

In 1993, Jordan joined the Boston hard rock band Powerman 5000 shortly after the band signed with DreamWorks Records. Relocating to Los Angeles, he toured extensively throughout North America, performing on Ozzfest, Snocore, and tours alongside artists including Black Sabbath, Kiss, Primus, Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, and Danzig. Following his departure from Powerman 5000, he moved to New York before joining the Blue Man Group production in Las Vegas, where he has been a featured performer for over 26 years. 

He is also a prolific songwriter and founder of the recording project Sons of Jupiter, writing and recording original music with collaborator Thaddeus Corea.

Since 2022, Jordan has shared his experience as a drum instructor throughout the Las Vegas community, teaching privately and at Rare Spark Music Lessons, Rockstars of Tomorrow, and the Nevada School of the Arts. His teaching emphasizes strong fundamentals, creativity, musicality, and confidence, preparing students of all ages for both individual growth and successful ensemble performance.
