String / Orchestra Classes

Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass

Strings 1 (ages 9-18)

This class is for students who have no previous experience and will teach from the VERY BEGINNING. This semester-long class will introduce the basics of the instrument and fundamental music reading. The Strings 1 class presents a Family Showcase presentation on the last day of class. Instruments include violin, viola, cello and upright bass. It is highly recommended that the students enroll in Beginning Music Theory in the same semester. Instrument rentals are available through our partner, Music and Arts.

*Because this level 1 class started in the fall and the spring is a continuation of the fall, brand new students in January will need teacher approval to join mid year.  Please send us an email to forward on to the teacher, or you can come to the open house and speak to the teacher there.  [email protected]

Beginning Music Theory is required for ALL instrument ensemble students in Level 1 or Level 2. Students are allowed to test out of Beginning Music Theory. If tested and recommended for Intermediate Music Theory level or above, they may choose to take or not take Music Theory.  Theory placement tests can be taken at the open house.
