Supply List
Required Books and Materials
Students will provide their own instruments and music stand for all Band, Orchestra, Guitar, and Percussion classes.
Percussion 1 & 2
- A bell kit which should include: bells, practice pad (snare drum is OK, but the practice pad is required), practice pad stand, Vic Firth SD1 General drumsticks.
- Standard of Excellence Book I, Drums and Mallet Percussion.
Band 1
- Standard of Excellence Book I – specific to instrument
Band 2
- Standard of Excellence Book I & 2 – specific to instrument
Concert (Intermediate) Band
- Pencils and 3-4 colored markers
- Black 1" Binder
- Woodwinds should have at least 5 working reeds at all times, cork grease, swabs.
- Brass need to have valve oil.
- Trombones should have slide cream and a water bottle.
- All percussionists should have snare sticks --Vic Firth SD1, medium yarn mallet, timpani mallets, hard plastic bell mallets, stick bag (optional, but highly recommended)
- Jazz Band
- No Books Required
- Black 1" Binder
- Pencils and 3-4 colored markers
- Woodwinds should have at least 5 working reeds at all times, cork grease, swabs.
- Brass need to have valve oil, straight mute and cup mute
- Trombones should have slide cream and a water bottle.
- All percussionists should have snare sticks -Vic Firth 5A, medium yarn mallet, brushes, stick bag (optional, but highly recommended.)
Strings 1
- Essential Elements book 1 – specific to instrument
Strings 2
- Essential Elements Book 2 – specific to instrument
Intermediate Orchestra
- String Basics book 2 – specific to instrument
Advanced Symphony Orchestra
- No Books Required

- All percussionists should have snare sticks, medium yarn mallet, timpani sticks.
Guitar Fundamentals 1
- Hall Leonard Guitar Method Book 1 Standard
- When choosing a guitar: An acoustic guitar is required for class, as opposed to an electric guitar. We always recommend a "Classical" or "Nylon-String" guitar for beginners, as they're much easier on the fingers than steel strings.
Guitar Fundamentals 2 and 3

Advanced Guitar Ensemble
- No books required at this time.
Concert, Chamber, and Show Choir
- 3 ring binder
- Music to be printed from SNHPA website. Please find your music to print under the resource tab in your individual class page
